Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Whether you’re running a Turkey Trot or watching the Thanksgiving parade, I hope you have you been enjoying your Thanksgiving Day so far!
I started the day with a brisk run.
And when I say brisk I mean 40ºF.
And when I say run I mean Turkey Trot 5K!
Unfortunately my camera died right after my Dad took the picture of Philip and I before the race, so there are no “action” shots. But, at least I can tell you about it! It was a good race!

Here are the details…
Who: Philip, my [Cross Country] friend Emily, and me!
Originally I was gonna run by myself to get in shape for Winter Track Tryouts, but then I asked my friend Emily if she wanted to run with me since she was trying out for Winter Track too. She said yes! It wasn’t until last night that my brother decided to run. Mind you, this was his first 5K and he has never run more than a mile at once. He’s crazy, I know.
What: The Turkey Trot 5K [held at the same place where my first 5K was held]
When: This morning. At 9AM. In the freezing cold. On Thanksgiving Day.
Why: To get [or stay!] in shape for Winter Track.

Now here’s the story…
Overall, I felt pretty darn awesome during this race. It was absolutely freezing, which was good since I run better in the colder weather. There were about 200 people who were running the Trot so my first mile was actually pretty slow. I wasn’t able to sprint out like I usually do and I had to pass people who were jogging, so my time for the first mile was 8:05. The second mile was much better and I pretty much kept the same pace as the first mile. After the second mile my time was 16:09. I skipped the water station during the third mile and finished with a new PR!
25:12!!!!!!!!!!
I was so happy, but enough about me. The real star of this race was Philip. He ran the entire 3.1 miles in 27:40! Isn’t that crazy?!
Philip is crazy. I’m so proud of him! He’s a runner!
[Whoops! How'd that get in there?]
