With all of the New Years Resolutions posts already out there in Blog World, I’m sure this is a yawn for all of you, but bear with me. This is actually the first time I’ve ever set New Years Resolutions for myself.
Eeeeek! I’m nervous!
I have 9 resolutions for 2011 and organized them into categories. Let’s have a look at them, shall we?
Life:
1. Get a life…literally.
I enjoy spending time at home – relaxing with the family, watching TV, blogging, working out, baking, and reading. It’s not that I’m a homebody or anything. I just don’t need to be out and about 24/7. My goal for 2011 is to spend more time out with friends. I want my high school years to be ones that I will remember forever, with memories of fun things I did, stupid things I did, and great things I did.
2. Stop arguing with my parents
I guess it’s a natural thing for a teenager to do – arguing and giving my parents “attitude,” *rolling eyes* but I really want to stop, or at least do it less.
Fitness:
3. Shave ~2 minutes off my 5K time
As of right now my 5K PR was done at the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day and is 25:15. I love to run and I love PR-ing so why not make it a goal for 2011? I may or may not have an ulterior motive for the ~23 minute 5K time, but more about that later…like around September. Also, my friend Emily and I may or may not have an “evil” plan for Cross Country, but I’m keeping that a secret for now as well.
4. Run 10 5Ks on my own
I might be thinking of all of these running-related goals because I am in running withdrawal and I might regret this later, but I really want to run 10 non-Cross Country related 5Ks and maybe a 5-mile race during the course of the year. I love running official races and now that Phil is hooked I can’t resist!
5. Gain Muscle
It might just be the popular thing among us teen bloggers, (I’m talking about you Kayla and Carrie!) but I really want to “tone up” and gain some lean muscle mass. It’s going to be hard since I’ll be running a lot and no gyms around me admit teens under 18 but I’m going to try my hardest! Now that I think of it, it could also be due to the fact that I’ve been reading April’s blog for over a year now…
Blogging:
6. Improve FoodFitnessFun
I love blogging and all of the new friends I’ve made through it! Seriously, you are amazing! Thanks so much for being loyal readers in 2010 and I can’t wait to see what 2011 will bring. That being said, I would love to improve my blog this year for my benefit and yours!
Here are a couple of the blog-related things I want to tackle:
- Purchase my own URL
- Write a more interesting/detailed “About Me”
- More giveaways
- More recipes
- More product reviews
- New header
Sanity/Personal:
7. Set more goals for myself
I’ve seen it all over Blog World – fellow bloggers setting monthly and even weekly goals for themselves. As I said before, I’ve never set any year-long goals for myself let along monthly goals, but I love the idea. So this year I plan on setting monthly goals for myself and posting them on my blog so y’all can hold me accountable.
8. ”Unplug” once a month
I, like many other people, find myself spending 2-4 hours a day on the computer. Between commenting on other blogs, blogging, uploading pictures, Skype, and Facebook it really adds up! So to take a small break from it all, I’d like to set one day a month aside so I can spend it with my friends and family.
9. Clean/Organize my room
I’ve put it out there for all of the world to see…my room is a mess. It’s not that I don’t have the time to clean my room (Well, sometimes…) I’m just too lazy to do it! This year I want to clean my room, organize everything so things don’t “mysteriously” disappear, and keep it that way! Achieving this will certainly help me out a lot!
* * * * *
Well, what do you think? I think I can do it!
Question of the Day:
- What are you going to do to make 2011 one of the best years ever?
