Seven Things Sunday II

by Erika

Good Evening Everyone!  Hope all of you had an amazing weekend! I sure did! :-D

Since I got such a positive response last week on my Seven Things Sunday post, I figured I would do it again.  Hey, this just might become a weekly thing!

So, without further adieu, I’m proud to present…

Seven Things Sunday II

1.   Meal:  The Veggie Sandwich I had yesterday.  *Recipe coming soon!*

2.   Song:  “I Just Wanna Run” by Downtown Fiction

I was actually introduced to the song by my friend Adrianna when I was injured because she felt like it fit me perfectly. I have to admit, she was right!

3.   Workout:  Still walks with Fluffy, but I have a feeling once Track starts (tomorrow!) running will take the top spot.

4.   Laugh:  This week I had a lot of laughs but I couldn’t think of any that were extremely hilarious.  I did have a pretty good spur-of-the-moment joke this week, though.  Once again, you had to be there, but I’ll try to explain it to the best of my ability.  Earlier this week I told some kind of corny joke at my lunch table and a few people chuckled, however a few moments later the table next to us started laughing hysterically at something someone said at their table.  Quickly, I quipped “Haha, they must have heard me!”  Then my entire table was in hysterics.  I have no idea how I come up with this stuff! :-P

5.   Website:  Foodgawker – You know you have too much time on your hands when you decide to look through 20 pages of food pictures.

6.   Discovery:  Resizing photos.  Yeah, it sounds lame, but I never knew I could resize photos before!  Speaking of photos, how do you like the new photo size.  Keep it or go back to the old sizing?

7.   Hope:  That my back will be A-okay from now on!  I really, really, really want to run!

“I just wanna run, run it away, run because their chasin’ me down…” :-)

* * * * * * * * * *

Well, that’s all for now folks!  Now I’m off to straighten my hair, watch a little TV, and hit the hay.  I’m tired!

Questions of the Day:

  1. What is your favorite website right now?
  2. Have you ever been featured on Foodgawker?
  3. What was your favorite workout this past week?

I hope you all have a great week and stay tuned for another Blog World Weekly tomorrow! :-D

February/March Goals

by Erika

WHOA! I cannot believe that it is already March 1st.  It feels like February 1st was yesterday! :-D

Since it’s the first day (well, actually the 2nd) of the month, I figured I should check up on my February goals and then set some new ones.  Gotta keep up my New Year’s Resolutions!

* * * * * *

February Goals – Recap

  1. Do at least one fun thing every weekend! Throughout February I actually got out a lot more than usual.  I went to school basketball games with friends, I went to Cotillion, and worked out with friends.  Overall, I think I did a great job!  A-
  2. Eat less sugar!  The first two days of the month I went completely sugar-free and loved it.  I felt so much better with less sugar that I continued it through most of the week, but after a while I started to slip, and was completely fine with it.  I don’t want to cut out all sugar anyways, but I just think I could have controlled myself better around things like Tropical Mango Bread and Chocolate Chip Cookie BrowniesC+
  3. Stop procrastinating!  This was another one that I did really well with in the beginning and then began slacking at the end.  I have been starting my homework right when I get home from school instead of spending an hour on Facebook though!  B-

March Goals

  1. Eat less sugar!  I feel like this is going to be a continued effort on my part, so I’m going to post it as a goal again.
  2. Use what I have!  Our pantry is filled to the brim with various flours and other baking necessities, yet I still find a recipe where I need something else that I will probably never use again.  This month I want to start using up ingredients that I have on hand before I go out and buy others.
  3. Find time for yoga!  Now that I am able to run again, I find myself neglecting yoga and stretching.  While I was injured I fell in love with yoga and don’t want it to be forgotten (again!)  Since spring track starts in a few days and I will be running almost everyday, I’m going to aim for about an hour of yoga a week.

Sorry for another wordy post!  I promise I’ll be back to regular, photo-filled posts soon!  :-D

Questions of the Day:

  1. Do you set monthly or weekly goals for yourself?  If so, what are they?
  2. Do you ever find yourself slacking on your goals?  What do you do about it?

Have a great Wednesday! :-D

Ideal Friday Morning

by Erika

My idea of an ideal Friday morning would mean no school…

Being able to sleep in…

Sitting down to a breakfast that I just took out of the oven…

And maybe, just maybe going for a short run…

(Taken at my first 5K - the Flying Pig!  Oh how I miss summer…)

* * * * * *

Now let me tell you what actually happened! ;-)

This morning I woke up at 8AM and couldn’t fall back asleep.  I got showered, dressed and sleepily walked downstairs into the kitchen in hopes of baking, only to find this note from my Mom.

Ugh.

After this discovery I immediately opened my computer, checked my emails, replied to a few comments, and got to work.  I actually completed a 4 page Biology packet and a Geometry project in an hour or so.

I just kept checking things of that horrid list.

Geometry Homework:  Check!

Biology Homework:  Check!

Clean Bathroom:  Check!

Defrost Lasagna:  Check!

By about 10AM I was done with everything on the list.  I was so impressed that as a reward for myself I baked Mama Pea’s Save A Buck Pumpkin Scones and The Chic Life’s Green Monster Muffins:-D

They were both delicious!  I can’t wait to freak out surprise my family with green muffins.

Of course, it took me about 15 minutes to find my camera just so I could take a picture of them.  My camera somehow ended up in the bathroom drawer.  I was extra hungry by the time I found the camera – I had to stare at those delicious baked goods for 15 extra minutes! ;-)

Now I am heading out to go shopping with my Mom who just sampled one of the Green Monster Muffins.  She loves them – she’s reaching for a second one right now. ;-)

Questions of the Day:

  1. What is your idea of an ideal Friday morning?
  2. What is your idea of sleeping in?  Mine is anytime after 9AM, but my parents’ idea is anytime after 11AM. Haha!

Have a happy and safe weekend! :-)

New Year’s Resolutions 2011

by Erika

With all of the New Years Resolutions posts already out there in Blog World, I’m sure this is a yawn for all of you, but bear with me.  This is actually the first time I’ve ever set New Years Resolutions for myself.

Eeeeek! I’m nervous! ;-)

I have 9 resolutions for 2011 and organized them into categories.  Let’s have a look at them, shall we? :-)

Life:

1.     Get a life…literally. ;-)

I enjoy spending time at home – relaxing with the family, watching TV, blogging, working out, baking, and reading.  It’s not that I’m a homebody or anything.  I just don’t need to be out and about 24/7.  My goal for 2011 is to spend more time out with friends.  I want my high school years to be ones that I will remember forever, with memories of fun things I did, stupid things I did, and great things I did.

2.     Stop arguing with my parents

I guess it’s a natural thing for a teenager to do – arguing and giving my parents “attitude,*rolling eyes* but I really want to stop, or at least do it less.

Fitness:

3.     Shave ~2 minutes off my 5K time

As of right now my 5K PR was done at the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day and is 25:15.  I love to run and I love PR-ing so why not make it a goal for 2011?  I may or may not have an ulterior motive for the ~23 minute 5K time, but more about that later…like around September.  Also, my friend Emily and I may or may not have an “evil” plan for Cross Country, but I’m keeping that a secret for now as well. ;-)

4.     Run 10 5Ks on my own

I might be thinking of all of these running-related goals because I am in running withdrawal and I might regret this later, but I really want to run 10 non-Cross Country related 5Ks and maybe a 5-mile race during the course of the yearI love running official races and now that Phil is hooked I can’t resist!

5.     Gain Muscle

It might just be the popular thing among us teen bloggers, (I’m talking about you Kayla and Carrie!) but I really want to “tone up” and gain some lean muscle mass.  It’s going to be hard since I’ll be running a lot and no gyms around me admit teens under 18 but I’m going to try my hardest!  Now that I think of it, it could also be due to the fact that I’ve been reading April’s blog for over a year now…

Blogging:

6.     Improve FoodFitnessFun

I love blogging and all of the new friends I’ve made through it!  Seriously, you are amazing!  Thanks so much for being loyal readers in 2010 and I can’t wait to see what 2011 will bring.  That being said, I would love to improve my blog this year for my benefit and yours! :-)

Here are a couple of the blog-related things I want to tackle:

  • Purchase my own URL
  • Write a more interesting/detailed “About Me”
  • More giveaways
  • More recipes
  • More product reviews
  • New header

Sanity/Personal:

7.     Set more goals for myself

I’ve seen it all over Blog World – fellow bloggers setting monthly and even weekly goals for themselves.  As I said before, I’ve never set any year-long goals for myself let along monthly goals, but I love the idea.  So this year I plan on setting monthly goals for myself and posting them on my blog so y’all can hold me accountable. ;-)

8.     ”Unplug” once a month

I, like many other people, find myself spending 2-4 hours a day on the computer.  Between commenting on other blogs, blogging, uploading pictures, Skype, and Facebook it really adds up!  So to take a small break from it all, I’d like to set one day a month aside so I can spend it with my friends and family.

9.     Clean/Organize my room

I’ve put it out there for all of the world to see…my room is a mess.  It’s not that I don’t have the time to clean my room (Well, sometimes…) I’m just too lazy to do it!  This year I want to clean my room, organize everything so things don’t “mysteriously” disappear, and keep it that way!  Achieving this will certainly help me out a lot!

* * * * *

Well, what do you think?  I think I can do it! :-D

Question of the Day:

  1. What are you going to do to make 2011 one of the best years ever?
