What’s In The Bag?

by Erika

Hello Everyone! :-D

Today I have a very interesting post planned for y’all!  (Note: I do not say y’all in real life.  Promise!)  Lately I’ve been seeing numerous “purse posts” around Blog World.  In these “purse posts” the blogger simply opens up her purse, dumps all the junk contents out, takes pictures, and shares it with her readers.

I don’t know about you, but I’m nosey and love seeing that kind of stuff!  ;-)

The Bag:

Coach (A Christmas gift from my Grandma!)♥

The Contents:

  • Pen/Sharpie/Highlighter
  • Victoria’s Secret  Lipgloss (Cake Batter & Berry flavors)
  • School ID
  • Loose change
  • Clif Mini Chocolate Brownie bar (Ew, tastes terrible!)
  • House keys
  • Spare house keys
  • Altoid Smalls
  • Retainer case
  • Bath & Body Works Hand Sanitizer (Apple flavor)
  • Cell Phone (Samsung Solstice)
  • Giftcards (Whole Foods, Lord & Taylor, American Eagle)
  • Money
  • Hand Sanitizer case (Stupidest thing ever! It was a gift.)
  • Trader Joe’s receipt

If you think that’s a lot of stuff, you should see my Mom’s purse.  That thing weighs at least 20 pounds.  At least!   :-P

Oh, and speaking of the Trader Joe’s receipt…

Trader Joe’s Goodies:

Note: I was being very restrained.  I could have easily bought the whole store!

  • 2 boxes of Peanut Flour ♥
  • Roasted Garlic Hummus

Ohmygosh!!!!!  The Peanut Flour is amazing!  It tastes almost exactly like regular peanut butter.  So close that I ate a few spoonfuls of the flour itself! Haha! ;-)

Plus the stats can’t be beat - 16 grams of protein?  Yes, please!

I know I’m rather late jumping on the Peanut Flour Bandwagon, but I’m thinking of making a Peanut Flour Round-up post so that Peanut Flour newcomers can have a plethora of ideas on how to use it.  That being said, does anyone know or have any Peanut Flour recipes that they want to be included?  Simply leave a link below and I will add it! I’m trying to include as many as possible so add as many as you want! I’ll be checking my SPAM folder regularly so that none will be forgotten. :-)

Questions of the Day:

  1. What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever heard of someone carrying in their purse?  My purse is pretty normal, but my friend Emily carries a toothbrush in hers! Haha!
  2. Do you know any good peanut flour recipes? If so, leave a link below!

Hope everyone had a great Monday! :-)

The Day That Keeps Getting Better

by Erika

The title says it all.  I woke up to this.

Actually, I woke up to a small bowl of Kashi Go Lean and had a quick workout.

Workout:

  • 1 mile speed walk
  • 30 min. Wii Fit Plus (yoga)

But afterwards I had these pancakes from Jessica.

They were amazing!  Not healthy in any way at all, but amazing.  I highly recommend you make them!

C’mon even Phil liked them.

Scratch that.  Even my Mom liked them and this is coming from the woman who eats a waffle with butter and sugar for breakfast everyday. ;-)

Speaking of my Mom, she also treated us to some shopping and Starbucks.  I got a Skinny Vanilla Bean Frapuccino.

Later we are planning on hitting up Trader Joe’s for some Peanut Flour! I’m so excited! :-D

Questions of the Day:

  1. What did you do today?
  2. Any good peanut flour recipes?!

Have a great weekend! :-)

Shop Until [I] Drop

by Erika

Happy Saturday! :-)

Yesterday my Mom finally cracked.  She finally realized that just because I wear uniforms to school, I still need clothes to wear outside of school.

You know what that means, don’t you?

Shopping! ♥

*****

Our shopping expedition started at Aeropostale where I got a pair of skinny jeans [*gasp*] and a pair of regular jeans.  I say *gasp* because I am totally against skinny jeans.  They just aren’t comfortable, therefore I never wear or buy them.  Okay, today was an exception because these skinny jeans actually were comfortable and I have always wanted to tuck my pants into my boots without them looking bad.  [Can't do that with bootcut/flare jeans!]

[Note: I don't have an actual picture of this one since they are in the washing machine at the moment, but here's  the photo from the Aeropostale website. ↓]

Next we hit American Eagle, where I really hit the motherload! ;-)

I got 6 tops for $70 – I’d say that’s a pretty nice deal! :-)

I looked at the prices on this shirts and they were originally $25 – I got almost all of them for half price! :-)

Almost all of them:  This one [after a 30% discount + half off] was only $5!  BARGAIN!

After American Eagle, my Mom and I went into Pac-Sun and JCPenny but came out empty-handed. :-(

We also walked into Forever 21 and came out empty-handed. :-(

But, just as this shopping expedition was about to end, I saw GNC and Gertrude Hawk.  YAY for chocolate and nutrition bars! :-P

At GNC I got 2 Luna Bars [Blueberry Bliss and Peanut Butter Cookie] and 1 Clif Bar [Carrot Cake].  I was so close to getting some more protein powder [out again!] but my Mommy said no. :-?

Oh well, I made up for it at Gertrude Hawk. ;-) [Because chocolate in place of protein powder is a great alternitive.]

At Gertrude Hawk I returned this milk chocolate dinosaur egg that I got from my Babi for Halloween.  I decided to exchange it for some dark chocolate bars and a huge containor of “Reindeer Food.”  [aka - Puppy Chow]

Let me tell you: that Reindeer Food is addicting! Even my Mom says so… ↓

Haha! :-)

She likes them a little too much!

Questions of the Day:

  1. Are you a bargain hunter?
  2. How would you describe your style?  I am mostly preppy, but I’ll wear whatever’s comfortable and looks nice.

A Not-So-Relaxing Day Off

by Erika

This morning (since I don’t have any school) I was able to relax and eat breakfast at a leisurely pace.

I had Cheese Grits…minus the egg because I wasn’t feelin’ it this morning. ;-)

Cheesy Goodness!

It is so nice waking up on a cold morning to a hot bowl of grits! Same goes for oatmeal and Cream of Wheat

I thought that today would be relaxing and I would be able to sit around and do nothing…boy, was I wrong!

Before lunchtime I had already:

  • cleaned/organized my desk
  • finished all of my homework
  • got my eyebrows threaded
  • and went shopping with my Mom for Cross Country clothes

As you can see I had a pretty busy day, but it beats sitting around in school! :-P

Lunch was especially delicious. I had a salad topped with a Veggie Burger For One. ♥ ↓

Lunch

In keeping with the chili powder and cumin theme of the burger I mixed 2 tablespoons of Kraft House Italian dressing with a dash of chili powder and Tabasco and used it to dress my salad.

Semi-Homemade Dressing

After lunch I got to relax for a while and then helped Philip with a school project.

After a lot of cutting, pasting, and coloring I got hungry so I had the last piece of Banana Walnut Hemp Manna Bread and some pineapple.

Yum! Pineapple is amazing – definitely one of my favorite fruits! :-)

A couple of hours later I had dinner. I had a classic: Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup!

Classic Dinner

The Grilled Cheese consisted of an Arnold’s Sandwich Thin with ½ a cup of part-skim cheddar cheese and the Tomato Soup was something that we had sitting in the back of our pantry: Campbell’s Select Harvest Tomato and Basil soup!

Now, I know that canned soups are usually full of additives and sodium but this one wasn’t too bad.

Almost All-Natural

The ingredients were pretty good…the sodium…well that was still pretty bad clocking in at 20% daily value. :-?

Oh well…

After dinner my Mom and I took Philip to baseball practice, picked up a few things from Wegmans, and came home. Currently, I am eating some Sensible Foods Cherry Berry and blogging. My day wasn’t as relaxing as I thought it would be, but it was still a nice change-of-pace. :-)

Plus, I still have Monday (Columbus Day) to sit around and do nothing. ;-)

Question of the Day:

  1. Do you prefer structured or lazy days?       I prefer lazy days during the school year but once summer comes I get bored and crave structure!

My Favorite Type of Shopping

by Erika

Most teenage girls say clothes shopping is their favorite type of shopping, but not me, my favorite type of shopping is grocery shopping. ;-)

Don’t get me wrong, I love fashion and I love the mall, but it’s nothing in comparison to the excitement I feel when I walk into the grocery store. :-)  (Wow, I sound really weird right now…)

Today I went to Whole Foods because I had a $20 gift card leftover from last Christmas to use up.

I swear, I could spend hours in Whole Foods. There are so many food items that I just need to have! :-P

Of course, my Mom would never allow me to spend hours in Whole Foods or allow me to buy the whole store so I settled on a few items and left. I also nabbed a few really good free samples while I was in the store. Yummy! ♥

Who wants to guess what I got?! :-)

Nevermind.

I’ll just save you the trouble and post a picture. ↓ ;-)

I was so excited to finally find the legendary Carrot Cake Larabar! I’ve heard so many mixed opinions on it that I could not wait to try it. :-P

Okay, I lied. I am waiting to try it. It’s still sitting in my pantry uneaten. :-(

But, I did get to try the Buffalo Bean Dip for the first time. It is absolutely amazing!

I had a load of it for lunch. ↓

Morning Star Farms California Turk’y Burger on a Sandwich Thin w/ Buffalo Bean Dip. Served with a side of raw zucchini w/ more Buffalo Bean Dip and a Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookie.

The Dip is so good! It has all of the buffalo sauce flavor without any of the heat. It’s great for the wimps people who don’t like spicy stuff!

________

I think that’s it for now…

Questions of the Day:

  1. Have you tried the Carrot Cake Larabar yet? What did you think?
  2. Are you like spicy foods? ;-)
